Clubs New Zealand Sports Tournament Update

6 May 2020

For Clubs New Zealand, our tournaments have always provided a special opportunity for our club community to come together with others to share common interests and engage in a bit of friendly (but often fierce) competition.

As the COVID-19 situation has continued to evolve, our priority has been to ensure the health and safety of our club members, employees, partners and communities. With this in mind, we made the difficult decision to cancel Clubs New Zealand sports tournaments up until 31 August 2020.

While we have moved to alert level 3 and alert level 2 is within our sights, we do not yet know the full details of what level 2 will look like for our clubs. What we do know is that the lock down has put our clubs under immense pressure, and we must do all we can to support our clubs move through the alert levels towards normality.

At this stage we intend for the Clubs New Zealand sports calendar to recommence on the 5th September 2020 with the Clubs New Zealand North Island Harvey Patton Memorial and Double Rise Championship (Clay Target) at the Onehunga Club.

Now that clubs are preparing to reopen, we are working towards communicating with each club scheduled to host the remaining 2020 tournaments to ensure that they can go ahead as planned and to discuss any additional health and safety measures that may need to be put in place.

We are also seeking to communicate with the clubs who were scheduled to host the tournaments that were cancelled with the view to roll the hosting rights over to 2021. If there are any changes to the calendar or host clubs, we will communicate this via the Clubs New Zealand website and sports newsletters as soon as possible.

We are missing Clubs New Zealand tournaments just as much as you are, but rest assured we are working hard towards getting the calendar back up and running so that you can once again share in common interests and engage in a bit of friendly competition in the safest way possible.

Thank you
