On 17 February 2021 the Government activated the Covid Resurgence Support Payment.
Eligible businesses will be able to apply for the payment from next Tuesday, 23 February 2021.
Gambling Commission Rules That Clubs are Entitled to a Reduced Authorised Purpose Return and May Retain a Greater Amount of Gaming Proceeds as Working Capital – Covid-19 Relief

A recent decision from the Gambling Commission has paved the way for clubs to apply to have their minimum authorised purpose percentage for their current financial year waived. The decision also enables clubs to hold a larger amount of gaming machine proceeds in reserve as working capital.
Am I Dismissed Or Not?

You would think that it would be crystal clear when someone has been dismissed from their employment. And in most cases it is. But on occasions, it can be a real head scratcher. A recent case from the Employment Court, Concrete Structures (NZ) Limited v Sam Ward, saw the Chief Judge state that a dismissal can occur even when neither the employee nor the employer subjectively believes that a dismissal has occurred.

The Advertising Standards Authority is pleased to offer a range of options for briefings on the new Alcohol Advertising and Promotion Code. The Code was released on 16 December 2020 and comes into effect for new ads on 1 April 2021. All ads will need to comply with the new Code by 1 July 2021.

Clubs New Zealand no longer able to accept payment by cheque

The demise of cheques has long been foreshadowed, last year ACC and Inland Revenue announced they would no longer be accepting cheques and now in 2021 many banks are moving to phase cheques out entirely.
Clubs New Zealand's bank is one of those to announce that the use of cheques as a payment method will be discontinued this year. As a result of this Clubs New Zealand will no longer be able to accept cheques as a form of payment from clubs.

This week COVID-19 has edged its way back into the spotlight after a case was recorded in the community in Northland and two further cases have been identified in Auckland.
The latest updates suggest that these cases are linked to the border and that the virus was contracted from within managed isolation facilities. These cases are a stark reminder that we are operating during a global pandemic and that the situation can change within a matter of days.
Investing in Clubs Sports 2021

In 2018 the Clubs New Zealand Board made a commitment to invest in Clubs New Zealand Sport. Part of that investment has been in securing merchandise for participants, the continuation of prize draws and the ongoing review of Clubs New Zealand Sports.
Based on a review of feedback from host clubs and players we are going to implement some immediate changes to the Clubs New Zealand sports prize draws in 2021. These changes will be monitored throughout the year with a view to introduce a fully revamped Clubs Sport offering ready for 2022.
